Dr Leonard Lewisohn won a British Academy Research Development Award
(for £48,248, commencing January 2010 going through to February 2011)
for a project entitled "Flowers of Persian Song and Verse: a Database
Website for the Golha Programmes." This BARDA award is for a project
concerning Persian music and poetry, the aim of which is to construct
searchable relational database of the Golha Radio Programmes,
broadcast on Iranian national radio between 1956-79, which will
include bio-bibliographical data on the performers and authors (where
applicable, their photographs) musical notation for the songs,
transcriptions of the poetry, and commentaries included in the
programmes in order to make them available over the internet. The
database will be searchable by musicians, vocalists, composers,
reciters, poets' names, as well as by musical mode, submode, poem,
literary and musical genre, and poetic meter, and will be made freely
available through a dedicated website sponsored by the Iran Heritage
Foundation.
